Do you write a blog? Have you been doing it regularly for a while? Does anyone read it?

Blogs are generally the low hanging fruit recommendation from marketing folks like myself when we speak to clients who are knowledge experts.

Blogs are a great way to show off your expertise while demonstrating insights and value to prospective clients.

But they are also very easy to do. So everyone has a blog these days.

If your site doesn’t rank well on Google then every new blog you write tends to bury the older ones deeper and deeper into into the content graveyard.

And when you spend a lot of time creating great posts that nobody sees, it can feel like you’re simply spinning your wheels and wasting your time.

But there are a couple of tools that you can install today on your WordPress site that will not only give your old content new legs, but also drive targeted traffic – independent from Google search.

Revive Old Posts

What can I say about Revive Old Posts? I love this plugin. What it does is take your old posts and recirculates them back into various social media channels throughout the day. If you have evergreen content – you need this plugin on your site.

My current set up has 4 of my posts going out each day to Twitter, LinkedIn and my Facebook Business Page. I’ve excluded posts from my site that are dated and have even excluded entire categories.

This brings in more new traffic everyday to quality posts that might otherwise never get seen. For a single site the cost is $75 a year and worth every penny.

Ad Inserter

So what happens when to those visitors when they come back to your site? Well if your content is good and they are looking for someone with your skills then they may want to reach out to you.

So it’s important that you have a clear call to action on every page.

What Ad Inserter does is put a piece of html into the text of your individual posts. If you want you can even configure different CTAs based on categories.

These plugins are the one-two punch combo that will take your content out of the black hole that is your archive pages and get it seen, and actioned, by the people you need to reach.

The best part is that they both work, even if your site isn’t ranked well on search engines.
